Ten students from Bessie Owens Intermediate Gate Magnet School have been invited to participate in the Invitational Tournament at the world renowned Cosmos Club in Washington, DC. The Cosmos Club is a private social club, founded by men of science and literature over 100 years ago. Eugene Brown, founder of Big Chair Chess Club recently came to the school and spoke to the kids about the importance of playing chess as it relates to making positive life decisions. Big Chair Chess Club has started a GoFundMe account to help with traveling expenses.
